Call to Order: 7:38 pm by President Marilyn Pearson
Agenda: Presented by Marilyn Pearson
Secretary’s Report: presented by Eva Tyburski. Corrections requested regarding costs of OnSnow. Cost of Condo and lifts for 2 days is $289 for adults. $239 for children. Cost for 3 days is $399 for condo and lifts for adults and $339 for children.
Treasurer’s Report: No treasurer’s report.
Membership Report: presented by Mike Brown to Marilyn prior to meeting as he was unable to attend: We are paying full price for membership this year. There are 82 members so far this year. Last year the total was 168. The year prior was 370.
CSC Update:Sugarloaf Council Days: Members need to tell CSC if they are attending Please see their website for pricing and availability of lodging.
Kids Day: will be held February 5th.Cost to be determined. The kids lessons are held from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm but participants can start skiing at noon and ski until the mountain closes.
The Picnic which is being held in Lieu of the SnowBall will be held in June. The Rumrunners Band will play at the picnic.
Old Business:
November 7th Noyes Memorial Hike was held. This was the 15th-anniversary hike. A thank you letter was sent to Marilyn from Joan which was sent to the membership via email. Joan stated that 53 people attended. As a reminder, there is a plaque in the Pavilion as a commemoration to Peter Noyes
November 12th the Warren Miller Movie the 6 pm show was attended by several members of NSC.
New Business:
- Meetings will be changed from the first and third Thursdays to the first and third Wednesdays at the request of the management of The Back Nine Tavern.
- Membership forms are available this evening for those who would like to join or rejoin this evening.
- Club Day: Club Day will be Sunday, February 13th at Catamount. Danbury Club will be there as well. Glen is in charge.
- Monday Night Racing Update: Racing will happen on Mt. Southington. There will be a bar and patio outside and limited socializing. Registration is online as the previous year. There is no registration at the door. As noted last month, the procedure will be the same as last year. Bibs are assigned and will be kept for the entire season. They are to be returned at the end of the season. If they are not returned by the holder, the holder of the bib will be responsible for the charge, not NSC. Rob Dexter is in charge of Monday Night Racing.
OnSnow: Race Chair Ron Kapresewski is resigning from that position. An email will be sent to all members requesting a volunteer for this position.
Skiers Unlimited: There is no new information. This season will not take place as they are looking for a sponsor for the group. The possibility of Mount Southington sponsoring the group is in the infant stage of discussion.
The World Cup is being held at Killington.
Mount Southington: They are still looking for skiing instructors. Go to their website for more information.
Holiday Party: The holiday party will be held January 15th at J. Timothys in Plainville. Ted will provide the membership with the menu choices. The average cost will be $40.00.
Newington Ski Club Ski Day: Marilyn is working on the planning of this Newington Ski Club Ski Day. She is talking to Berkshire West and Catamount to see what they might offer.
