NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES
October 18, 2018
Indian Hill Country Club
Meeting called to order by President, Ted Rogala at 7:45 pm.
Secretary’s Report: Accepted
Treasurer’s Report: Was given by Carol Sweeney and accepted.
Membership: Jack Fede reported that we have 127 returning members and 21 new members, totaling 148. Bulk Tickets: Pam reported that over 400 tickets were purchased.
Upcoming Events: Ski Sundown Ski Swap 11/2; Boston Ski Expo 11/8; Warren Miller film at the Bushnell 11/17. (This conflicts with the Snowball). There are other sites in CT that are hosting the film on different dates. Manchester Road Race is 11/20 with tailgating with Mt Laurel, contact Rusty Cushman for more details.
Pete Noyes Memorial Hike: November 10, 2018 at Talcott Mountain. All are welcome to join. Following the hike we will be tailgating. Feel free to bring food/snacks, etc. to share.
Open House: November 15, 2018 at Indian Hill Country Club. Marilyn Pearson and Mike Isko are coordinating and are looking for volunteers to help with such tasks as set up and cleanup, etc.
Snowball: November 17, 2018 at The Hartford Marriott, Windsor. Mike Brown is our Ambassador again this year. Ticket prices are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Mike is looking for people to help secure raffle prizes.
Manchester Road Race: Thanksgiving day, November 22, 2018.
Monday Night Racing Pizza Night: Kick off sign up with free pizza at Mt. Southington on 12/17, time TBD. December 17, 2018. Racing begins on January 7, 2018 at Mount Southington. Arrive early to sign up and register, racing begins at 7:00 pm.
Christmas/Holiday Party will be January 17, 2019 at Indian Hill Country Club.
Kids Day: January 27, 2019 at Mount Southington. Free to all kids on CT Ski Council.
Soup, Stew & Chili night will be February 7, 2019 at Indian Hill Country Club.
Club Day: looking at February 10 as a possible date. John Hunter planning event at Okemo.
CSC CT Senior Games: February 26, 2019 at Ski Sundown
On-Snow: March 1-3, 2019 at Mount Snow. More info coming soon.
Sugarloaf Trip: John Hunter organizing. Dates are March 10 -19, 2019. John needs a $300 deposit now to reserve condos and confirm trip. Commitment and deposited needed. Contact John for more info.
CSC Ski Trip: At Madonna Di Campiglio, Italy on March 15 – 23, 2019. Cost $1,660 and includes airfare from JFK to Milan, 7 night’s accommodations at 4 Star hotel, breakfasts, dinner for 5 nights and much, more. For more information go to Connecticut ski council website.
