NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES
December 21, 2017
Indian Hill Country Club
23 were in attendance during the meeting.
Meeting was called to order by President Jon Putnam at 7:30pm.
Secretary’s Report: Last meetings minutes were accepted.
Membership: Jon Putnam reported we have collected $6587 to date. The club has approx. 379 individual members to date., 224 registrations. 44 individual, 51 seniors, 64 family,14 college, 51 lifetime. Lifetime membership category has grown to be the 2nd largest category and ideas were discussed on what to do going forward, maybe drop the category in the future or change the way it is now without changing the present lifetime members. The board will discuss later in the year.
Christmas/Holiday Party: was postponed due to bad weather. Now it will be Thursday January 18. 6:30pm drinks, 7:00 dinner. Indian Hill Country Club. Upstairs in the banquet room. See Ted if you can make it.
Monday Night Racing: December 18th, was Pre-Registration Party. January 8th will be the first race. We are in charge of Bib collection on Monday January 15th.
Soup, Stew and Chili Night: February 15,2018 at Indian Hill CC. To Benefit Skiers Unlimited. We can bring in food, but cannot purchase food off the menu that night due to regulations. Cash Bar for drinks. Dennis Tyburski will organize the event. Carol Sweeney made up a flyer and contacted Mountain Laurel Ski Club. It will also be in the CSC newsletter.
Club Day: Okemo. Sunday, January 7, 2018. 10am. It’s a Council Awareness Day. Nastar fee is $12?. John Hunter has arranged with Okemo and will plan a get together later in the afternoon for drinks and food at The Loft at 3pm. $400 is budgeted. Jon will send out an email to see how many are expected to go. The race fee may be $10 for those who wish to race per the nights discussion. Race fee will be paid to the club when picking up the bib.
State Races: Any Connecticut resident may participate. GS- Jan. 11, Slalom-Feb. 14th, ( Rain dates will be 1 week later) Super G, Snowboard and Cross Country races are at On Snow.
Senior Games: February 27,2018 at Sundown. Fun Day. See Carol Sweeney for more information.
On Snow: March 2-4th 2018 at Okemo. See Ron Kapraszewski , need volunteers as we are running the racing on Saturday. This year we will have the clubs send all their registration info on line to us.
Big Sky Trip: March 6-13, 2018.See John Hunter.
Kids Day: January 28, 2018,4-6pm at Mount Southington. Registration is 2:30-3:30pm. Need to preregister by January 14, 2018, See CSC website for Jonathan Houck’s contact info.Any kids related to members of the CSC can participate, its free. Lessons will be given by Mt. Southington Instructors.
CSC: There was a $2100 profit from the Snowball.
Bulk Tickets: Sunapee tickets are in.
New Business:
Marilyn Pearson was injured Monday at Hunter Mountain by another skier, broke her Fibula and had surgery today-. Our thoughts and well wishes go out to her.
Lilly is at Covenant Village in Cromwell, Holiday cards can be sent to #24B Pilgrim Manor, Covenant Village, Missionary Rd, Cromwell.
Raffle: John Paturel won $12
