NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES
October 19, 2017
Indian Hill Country Club
Meeting was called to order by President Jon Putnam at 7:42pm.
Secretary’s Report: Last meetings minutes were accepted.
Open House Meeting: Will be here at Indian Hill Country Club same room as our meetings on November 30, 2017. There was again discussion about doing the meeting on Nov.16th instead, but it was decided to keep it as the 30th. It was decided to not have a meeting on November 16th.See Bulk Ticket Coordinators if need to pick up your tickets before then. The Open House Meeting committee will work on the event details.
Snow Ball: November 18, 2017, Hartford/Windsor Marriott. See Ambassador Mike Brown for tickets. He has sold about 15 so far. $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Mike has a lot of raffle prizes, he will be turning them in at the Ambassador’s Day this Sunday. We are sharing the Hospitality Suite room and cost with CAST Ski club. Orbitz has the rooms a bit cheaper than the CSC $87/room.
On Snow: March 2-4th 2018 at Okemo. Ron Kapraszewski is looking into lodging .Some of the places are already booked. An option is to rent out a ski club house that may be available that weekend. Our club is responsible for running the Saturday races this year.
Membership: Marilyn Pearson reported we have collected $3264.08 to date. Total registrations are at 89. This includes 18 individual, 21 retirees, 35 Family,6 College, and 9 Lifetime There is also $413.69 non- reconciled check coming to the club from ZAP. Bulk Ticket Coordinators will need an updated member list for the Open House Meeting. See Marilyn to pick up your stickers. Doreen Witkiewicz is working on a club roster, PDF format. It will not include children’s emails. Marilyn will email Doreen the list of current members.
Website: Paul Yuskales reported it’s not safe to put our roster on the website. It will only be sent by email by request.
IRS Update: Marilyn Pearson reported the ski club received a bill stating we owed money for previous years, she sent all our Non-Profit information and a letter back and it was reprocessed to not owing anything. In the future, need to file all tax/non-profit on time.

Pete Noyes Memorial Hike: November 11, 2017. Hike and tailgate.
Manchester Road Race: November 23, 2017 Rusty Cushman has the race info , meet afterwards to tailgate/socialize. Meet at the Army Navy center by the finish line. Race starts at 10am..
Christmas Party: December 9,2017. Indian Hill Country Club. Upstairs in the banquet room. Cost will be $30-$35. Choice of Beef, Chicken or Fish. Ideas welcome. Bring your holiday decorations.
Monday Night Racing: December 18th, Registration Party. Pre-register for racing that night. Free Pizza at Mount Southington.1st Monday Night race is scheduled for January 8,2018.
Soup, Stew and Chili Night: February 15,2018 at Indian Hill CC. We can bring in food, but cannot purchase food off the menu that night due to regulations. Cash Bar for drinks.
Senior Games: February 27,2018 at Sundown. Fun Day.
Club Day: At Okemo. Date is tentative for 1/28/18. John Hunter will talk to Okemo. 1/18 is an Awareness Day.
Big Sky Trip: March 6-13, 2018.See John Hunter. Spots being held will be released by Nov.1st.As of today 30 are signed up and 3 are on the wait list, need 3 more to fill a Condo.
New Business:
The Board of Directors met and made revisions to the NSC Constitution to bring it up to date. The Board will review and approve the changes and bring it to the Club Website for review. Comments will be accepted by the board. Jon Putnam will end out an e-blast to vote at the next meeting.
John Patrul gave an update on the East Coast Greenway bike trip from Wilmington NC to Savannah, GA. He also reported at a recent Farmington Trails meeting the Plainville options for the trail were discussed to close the gap.
Ski and Travel Show-October 21, 2017.Ct Convention Center. Jon Putnam has free tickets.
Lifetime Members– Donations gladly accepted.
December 21 Meeting? Will discuss at a later time if we should have a meeting that night.
Movie- Le Ride Nov 9.Bow Tie Cinema. Need a minimum to have the movie, if you are interested sign up/Contact Cycling Concepts.
Adela Martinez was visiting and sends her best to all.
50/50 raffle– Ted Rogala won $11.
